The Government chief made the request while addressing the 13th meeting of the State steering committee for national key transport projects and works in Ha Noi on August 8.
The Government leader applauded efforts by ministries, sectors, localities, project management boards, investors, constructors, engineers, and workers in implementing highway projects in recent times.
The Ministry of Transport reported 12 highway sub-projects totaling 693 km passing through 15 provinces and cities have been completed since 2021, raising the total length of highways to 2,021 km.
On August 8, the 8.5-km elevated section of the Nhon-Ha Noi Station metro line, running from Nhon to Cau Giay, started commercial operation.
Prime Minister Pham who is also head of the committee, reiterated the target of having 3,000 km of expressways by 2025 and 5,000 km by 2030 as set at the 13th National Party Congress, saying that it identified three strategic breakthroughs, including one in transport infrastructure.
He tasked members of the committee and delegates to focus on reviewing the implementation and seeking ways to resolve any difficulties and obstacles to speed up the progress of projects in the coming period./.
